Manual Exhibition and Manual Show 2001

We had the chance to be at the exhibition held in Madrid, at the trade fair pavilion Juan Carlos I from 16th to 19th March. The exhibition was divided into two different sections, one of which was organised for professionals from this sector and the other, Manual Show, for a broader audience.

In the “Manual” section for professionals, a couple of corridors, within the great exhibition centre, were occupied by the stands from different manufacturers and above all importers from the sector of modelling in general. However, still very little space is dedicated to ship modelling, which continues to be a minority activity in our country, despite the fact that there are several important kit manufacturers in Spain, which sell their products worldwide. We actually missed two of the most important Spanish manufacturers Constructo and Talhoer and several important ship-modelling companies from around the world, which will undoubtedly begin to be extensively represented in Spain, as this hobby develops in our country and this exhibition consolidates as an essential modelling showcase in Spain.

There is still a long way to go in the promotion of our hobby, but, from these pages, we would like to contribute to the success of this type of events, which will eventually benefit both amateurs and experts.

Ánfora modelismo, the new Spanish kit company presented its well-known models, the Ictineo II submarine and the Danube Duna tugboat, together with some innovations for this year, such as the Pilar steam gunboat, which will hit the stores in April and the motorboat for electric or internal combustion engine, which will be launched this year in October.

Artesanía Latina, the biggest Spanish ship-modelling company, did not present any outstanding innovation, except for the launching of some kits manufactured at a different scale, but set up a very attractive stand with its products.
