2001 Spanish Championships of FSR  Racing

EPSN1448.jpg (51956 bytes)The Spanish Championships of Radiocontrolled Speedboat Racing were held in Pradolongo Lake, Madrid, on September 15th and 16th, including the modalities of 3.5 cc., 7.5 cc., 15 cc., and International 3.5 cc. It was organised by the RC Speedboat Racing Club in Madrid. The international category was made up by teams from France and Portugal, although the French outperformed their competitors in almost all categories.

All the different categories had a similar importance in these Championships, although 35 cc. is clearly on the rise due to the fact that these motors are easy to use and have an inbuilt starter, which allows the motor to be easily started and prevents problems throughout the races and in the critical moment when the competition begins.

The atmosphere in the boxes got to be impregnated by the smell of nitro.

Spanish contestants came from four different regions: Valencia, Madrid, Malaga and the Balearic Islands. The competition consisted of two rounds.

During one of the breaks between races, the Costa family from France (father and son) offered and exhibition with a hydro and it was really difficult to follow the performance of the world champions with our digital camera

RC Speedboat racing turns out to be spectacular in any category, although accidents, including sudden stops and overturns, are rather frequent. Each round begins with the boats on land and motors off, which really puts the pilots' skills to the test.
